I know the time gap between reviews are pretty long, and I’m sorry for that. But let’s be honest: giving constant reviews on music releases is not an easy thing to do, and I specifically find it hard to check out several albums on the same day, so I decided to change my format a bit and focus my review on title track releases. However, I will add opinions on overall album release in case I gave it a listen and found something to talk about.

First of all, let me express my massive LOVE for Black Suit.
This is one of the best songs released this year.
It’s so exciting, and the whole electro swing vibes just makes you wanna get out of your chair and freaking DANCE. I have a really soft spot for retro sound (explains my love for MAMAMOO), and if you see at my list of most favorite SuJu songs, mostly they all have retro vibes (or at least involve a lot of brass).
Also, can we talk about how smart it was for SuJu to not include any rap parts into the song? I honestly think that rapping would ruin the whole electro swing vibe of this songs, and, I’ll be brutally honest, rapping rarely fits into these kind of songs. The fact that I seriously prefer rapper line singing (mainly I’m talking about Eunhyuk-Leeteuk-Heechul) rather than rapping, especially considering how much they improved their vocal skills. The song mood reminds me also of their previous, pretty much underrated and underappreciated single Spy, with the amount of brass and the sharp choreo.
The music video was full of fun. The whole mysterious auction thingy, with a girl stealing the suit… The aesthetics just breaths out Super Junior style, and I seriously love it. Loved how they played with the reverse mode, must be really tiring to ruin all those props while filming… I doubt they do several takes for each scene, it would kill all MV budget lol
I gave the full album 2 listens, and overall the music quality was really, really good. But, aside from title track, I only automatically added two more songs: One More Chance and The Lucky Ones, as they appealed the most memorable for my ear. I watched the MV for One More Chance, and I actually still prefer Black Suit over it, exactly for reasons related to rapping parts in SuJu’s songs.
The Lucky Ones is a really chill, perfect for driving on roads kind of track, loved the sound, loved the lyrics, loved the whole production of the song. Very laid-back, and really relaxing for my ears. I wish SuJu could film and release an MV for the song, but it must be summer themed, because the song gives out summer vibes. But oh well, I can still enjoy it a lot.
Title track – 10/10
