Officially coming back from hiatus + changes

It’s… been a while.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to make the reboot work the best for me, and it took me almost half a year and a couple of photoshop attempts to realize that I was probably trying to achieve the impossible, and that I didn’t have a clear image of what I wanted my blogging platform to be. So I took a longer break than I expected, and the anxiety that creeped in after that only delayed my return to blogging sphere even more.

My 8 most favorite K-pop albums of 2018

After completing my Top 18 K-pop songs of 2018 list the other day, I thought that I can’t just leave out the album evaluations, and so, here’s my quick list of 8 most beloved albums of 2018. I must say, there are few EPs that impressed me more in its overall composition and completion than the included tracks on their own, so there will be titles you never saw coming because they weren’t on my mentioned Top 18 list.

Shall we dig in?

18 K-pop songs that made my 2018

Well, hello there.

My end of the year has been pretty messy, and it affected my plans for a proper reboot very severely, I’d say. Nonetheless, I have made some major changes to this blog (which I’ll talk about in details in my future posts), but for now – let’s do some rankings!

Unfortunately, I couldn’t keep up with all releases for the second half of 2018, so my list is pretty much very biased towards acts I know from long before, and there are barely any new (as of, I’ve never talked about them) names. Usually I’d do rankings month by month, but somehow most of this year’s releases didn’t leave a deep impression on me, so instead of a long list I’ll be talking about 18 songs that made my 2018.

[아주 작은 REVIEW] Soyeon, Chungha, Seulgi, SinB / NU’EST W / Yuri (SNSD) / Super Junior

Erm… Hi.

Okay, probably I hurried a little bit with my “grande” return from hiatus, as some of my life issues hasn’t been solved yet, hence I still didn’t schedule up all my daily routine to stick to in order to keep up with daily chores and blogging. But I’ll get there soon! Really soon. Probably by the 1st anniversary of the blog. Pssst.

So, before I disappear again for god knows how many more days, let me do a quick review of some latest releases I enjoyed? Today I have a craaaazy collaboration from Station 0NU’EST W (who I’m apparently seeing in Bangkok super soon), Yuri of SNSD, and Super Junior.

Comeback from hiatus + Favorite releases of summer 2018!

Well hello, fellow k-pop fans!

It’s truly been a while since my last blog entry. Like I announced on Twitter, I took a break to focus on exams I had to take in order to prepare my application documents for Masters program. Unfortunately, I didn’t get enough scores, so I’m gonna take another one in two more weeks, but since it’s less pressuring for me, I thought that it’s perfect time to slowly come back to blogging. I feel more energetic (guess the pun) than before, and so I’m ready to strike again with reviews and discussion posts!

But first of all, let me just thank you all for staying with me. Even during my 2-month hiatus, my visit stats have remained stable, and this was the biggest surprise. Usually all your traffic comes from the frequency of new content, and seeing how the number of views on my pages stays relevant throughout my break makes me want to work even harder on all the future content. Thank you very, very much. I highly appreciate all of your support.

Now, onto revealing my short list.
Obviously, it will be impossible for me to review every single release that I’ve missed, so instead, I’ll be doing a quick list of new songs I loved so much I destroyed the replay button (hahahahaha). Mostly I listened to title tracks of all releases, the only exceptions when I took time to listen to the rest of the album were Leo, Sunmi, Jeong Sewoon, iKON, Oh My Girl, LOONA and Dreamcatcher’s minis. I chose 13 tracks (10 title and 3 b-sides) for this quick list, as 13 is my lucky number. All songs are listed in release order.

[Rina’s List] Favorite K-pop YouTubers

In this era, YouTube has become an integral part of how we find new music to listen to and where we can hear out multiple opinions on it. At this point, becoming a K-pop YouTuber has turned into a trend, and it gets harder and harder to stand out among thousands of other fellow fans. Especially when you’re running a reaction channel. Sure, 6-7 years ago there were only few K-pop reactors on YouTube, but now the numbers have multiplied.

So here’s my list of recommended K-pop oriented YouTube channels you should definitely check out and probably even subscribe if you haven’t done that yet! YouTubers were selected based on how unique their content is, and will also include one channel that is not active anymore as of now, but the content was too good to not mention it.

[Rina’s List] 11 underrated female dance solos

Time to be brutally honest: female solos are usually being slept on much more frequently than male solos. This statement is not meant to hate on male solos (I stan 3 male soloists, did you even know that? Ha.), but in K-pop market females are having it harder when they go solo. Since they’re not a part of a group, there’s no option for choosing a bias: you either like this soloist, or not.

I… fell into a writing slump.

Hello there!

Yes, you read it correctly. I fell into a writing slump. But not a general slump when you just can’t produce any type of content.

I realized that these days I’m not really into urgently checking out all new K-pop releases in order to write reviews, especially after two, almost three packed months of all sort of songs and mini-albums. I’m not sure if anyone did a research study, but apparently all new blogs tend to fall into their first writing slump after 6 months of running their platform. That situation happened when I ran my previous blog, and this time my slump came a little bit later than I thought. Or, to be more precise, I forced myself to constantly write in order to avoid that creativity block. But, as you can see, it still came to me, and I guess, I have to admit my surrender.

[Hidden Gemstone] Good Day – Rolly (y’all are really missing out a solid 2017 debut!)

Oh wow, hi again, it’s another Friday, meaning, another Hidden Gemstone!

Probably I should launch a survey for K-pop fans to find out whether they do check other artists aside from their faves, and if yes, how do they execute that (by the way, if you belong to that kind that checks other artists, you can answer these questions in the comment section~). It’s always interesting to know how people end up being multifandom.

So today’s Hidden Gemstone is a song that I consider one of the best 2017 debuts, and unfortunately, you can tell it went almost unnoticed *sigh*

[B-sides Treasure] Luna (f(x)) – My Medicine

Oops. I stopped looking at the calendar for a good while and totally forgot I was supposed to post this yesterday. /I need to start drafting ahead/ Lesson learned: I will write down on separate post-it all tasks I need to draft/publish within the day and stick it somewhere more visible than my blogging log, so I don’t forget.

Anyways, here I am again with another treasure from my long K-pop playlist. Welcome to my “Luna deserved better” shitpost, you lots. Duh.
