Weekly recap: June 17-23

Hi everyone!

Another week has passed, and oh wow, it IS hectic on K-pop market! It’s getting harder to keep up with most releases, that I don’t know whether I should be a bit more selective with releases I review on these weekly recaps or not. I don’t think I can pull out a post of my impression to 6+ songs, so, in case it gets even more hectic, I probably will have to be picky with what I write about on my platform.

Also I figured out that publishing a review on weekend doesn’t work with me at all, because I want to be busy with preparing the visual aspect of my blog/YouTube channel, and it’s impossible to film/take pictures for 4-5 hours straight and then sit down and write a 3000 word long review that could end up being insincere. So from now on, all Weekly recaps will be published on Mondays instead of Sundays.

Now, back to reviewing, this recap features releases from: Leo of VIXX, SF9Yesung of Super Junior, and Red Velvet. I’m intentionally skipping reviewing Stray Kids because their music is completely out of my style, and I can’t judge it in a neutral way, sorry to all Stays out there.

[아주 작은 REVIEW] Soyeon, Chungha, Seulgi, SinB / NU’EST W / Yuri (SNSD) / Super Junior

Erm… Hi.

Okay, probably I hurried a little bit with my “grande” return from hiatus, as some of my life issues hasn’t been solved yet, hence I still didn’t schedule up all my daily routine to stick to in order to keep up with daily chores and blogging. But I’ll get there soon! Really soon. Probably by the 1st anniversary of the blog. Pssst.

So, before I disappear again for god knows how many more days, let me do a quick review of some latest releases I enjoyed? Today I have a craaaazy collaboration from Station 0NU’EST W (who I’m apparently seeing in Bangkok super soon), Yuri of SNSD, and Super Junior.

[Rina’s List] Top songs of 2018 so far (1st half)

We’re already halfway into 2018! Time surely flies really fast.
Have you been enjoying the K-pop releases so far? I am for sure, as I can witness a stable transition from last year’s trendy sounds to new experimental music, and, of course, I’m enjoying every single bit of that movement. So how about we check out my personal lists for the first half of the year? ^__~

I’ll be doing two lists, one for title tracks, and one for B-sides, because we all know that in majority of situations B-sides become the main gems of album releases. Let’s go?

[REVIEW] Super Junior – Lo Siento (feat. Leslie Grace)

It’s a known fact that SM entertainment are the front-runners of experimenting with K-pop music, and should we ever really expect them to fail any of them? I honestly don’t think so, if we’re not taking SM Station digital project into account.

Super Junior are back with a repackage of their 8th album PLAY, now called REPLAY, and guess what, they’re implying Latin America sounds, which is having a very good chance to become a new trend this or next year. Let’s see what’s nice about this album repackage!

[아주 작은 Review] SVT – BSS / Super Junior / Honey Popcorn

I hope I’ll be able to write one more episode of 아주 작은 Review after this one, considering how many releases will be this week, starting from Monsta X, Samuel, Hoya, TVXQ and ending with Stray Kids’ and LOONA Olivia Hye’s debuts. Let’s pray that I won’t be too overwhelmed with new songs, because April is gonna be even more hectic.

Today’s edition features SEVENTEEN’s special unit BSS, Super Junior for SM Station 2, and Honey Popcorn‘s debut.

[아주 작은 Review] WJSN / Yoseob / Sungmin / Wanna One

Now that the Olympic season is over (I don’t talk a lot about, but I usually watch Winter Olympics only for Figure skating, and let me say that Ladies single competition was so fierce I almost fainted. Did you see what Medvedeva pulled out on ice??)

In this edition of 아주 작은 Review I’ll talk about newest releases from WJSN, Yoseob, Sungmin and Wanna One.

[Experience] K-Wave 2 Music Festival in Malaysia!

So I’m back from my short trip to Malaysia where I attended K-Wave 2 Music Festival, and I have so many things to share, but first I needed some rest because you know, being on foot for 48 hours with zero sleep was a completely terrible idea.

Anyways, let’s get straight into talking about my experience!

[아주 작은 Review] SuJu ft. Solar / N.Flying / Momoland / MAMAMOO

It’s time to start the new year of K-pop releases, and also for me to introduce a new section called 아주 작은 Review, which will be used for me to write short reviews on releases I found interesting but not enough to write a full scale post. It’s actually really helpful when there are too many releases coming out within short period of time, and you either: 1) don’t have enough time to review closely every single one without big delays; 2) get too overwhelmed with all releases because they’re good, but you can’t just figure out the right words to describe.

So, in this edition I’ll be reviewing last year’s SM STATION release by Super Junior members (feat. Solar of MAMAMOO), and this January’s three releases by N.Flying, MOMOLAND and MAMAMOO.

[Opinion] Most impressive performances from #MAMA2017 and #MMA2017

Previously I tried to spill some tea regarding MAMA 2017 and MMA 2017 winners, and I do recommend you to read it because, oh well, everybody loves tea? 😀

But this time let’s just put aside all those dirty awarding parts and talk about performances~ Here I’ll be listing stages that impressed me the most from both Mnet Asian Music Awards and Melon Music Awards.

[REVIEW] #SuperJunior – #BlackSuit (8th full album “PLAY”)

Hi guys!

I know the time gap between reviews are pretty long, and I’m sorry for that. But let’s be honest: giving constant reviews on music releases is not an easy thing to do, and I specifically find it hard to check out several albums on the same day, so I decided to change my format a bit and focus my review on title track releases. However, I will add opinions on overall album release in case I gave it a listen and found something to talk about.
